Dear Sirs,

I'm having some trouble getting mod_auth_pam to work...

As soon as the module is used (by sending a username & password
through the browser) the httpd-child-process dies (and naturally the
client doesn't get an answer...)

This happens only, if the correct username is given with a wrong
password. Wrong username and correct username/password combination
work fine...

I'm using apache 1.3.19 with mod_ssl, PHP4 and FrontPage 2000
Extensions on SuSE Linux 7.1 with Kernel 2.4...
I kinda tried everything I can imagine, compiling it as DSO <>
static, using Kernel 2.2.18, deactivating all other modules, using
apache 1.3.14... nothing worked...
It also doesn't matter if I put the acces-restrictions in a .htaccess
file or in the httpd.conf.

Perhaps You could help me out. I'm really desperate.

Thanks a lot

Yours sincerely,
Christian Westphal
