The Peer To Patent 2011 Pilot has opened and will run through September 30, 2011. Eleven applications have been posted for review, all in subject matter classes covering software. Patent classes covered by these apps include 380 (cryptography), 701 (vehicles, navigation, and relative location), 706 (artificial intelligence), 707 (database and file management or data structures), 709 (multicomputer data transferring), 712 (processing architecture and instruction processing), 715 (presentation processing of document, operator interface processing and screen saver display processing), and 718 (virtual machine task or process management or task management/control).

While these initial patent applications focus on computer software, this iteration of Peer To Patent will expand into new technology areas including biotechnology, bioinformatics, telecommunications and speech recognition. There are a number of features on Peer To Patent that are intended to help you stay on top of patent applications posted to the website.  By clicking on the subscribe link in an individual patent application's activity page, you can choose to receive notifications regarding new discussion, comments, or prior art references posted by others on specific patent applications. Additionally, expiration reminders can be selected to let you know when a particular patent application's review period is ending.

By clicking on the U.S. Patent Classifications link on the homepage, you can also choose to be notified whenever a new application is posted in any technology area that you are interested in.  Just click on the Class or Subclass that you're interested in and check the subscribe box.

Subscribing to applications and technology areas will make it much easier for you to keep up to date on what's happening at Peer To Patent.

Thank you for your participation!
