Eric, Feedback on Use Case 9 Rate a prior art submission V2 For your rating scheme, the ideal would be to have individual ratings for each claim that is associated with the prior art reference. i.e. a particular piece of prior art might literally disclose one claim word for word, but only give general background information for another claim. So the claim that is disclosed word for word would have a high rating for the prior art reference, the claim that has only general background information would receive a low rating for the prior art reference. Feedback for Use Case 6 A ranking system for claims is an interesting idea, but the use case is vague on what the criteria will be for importance and how that information once collected might actually be used. Feedback for Use Case 12 Use Case 12 lists the participating actors as a patent examiner or data entry clerk. I can foresee two possible ways this use case could be used. Either the USTPO examiner could be the actor or a community member could read the office action and enter the information (i.e. be the data entry clerk). I would switch 2 and 3, ranking claims vs. ranking prior art. It will be relatively easy to determine whether or not the examiner thought the prior art was relevant, it will be difficult to determine the ranking of the claims. Tom
