If by "out-of-date" you mean that a lot of it wasn't relevant to the most current version of OpenSSL, I would agree. However, please keep in mind that many people aren't or can't be on the current version. In my case, there was some information in the FAQ that explained why the move from MD5 to SHA1 to SHA256 for hashing algorithms in symmetric key encryption and why they got rid of MD5 altogether for FIPS mode. While this isn't relevant for the current version, it did explain why things are the way that they are and why I couldn't use SHA256 in my encryption in 1.1 and expect it to be able to be decrypted with 1.0.
Instead of just throwing the whole thing away, maybe you can post it in an obsolete documents section? Better yet, split up the FAQ by version.

The FAQ was removed. It was very very out-of-date. It was decided to just remove it completely.
