Dear OpenSSH developers! Please integrate the "Explicit file permissions enhancement to sftp-server" [1] patch v3 into OpenSSH. Reasons: * It increases the usability of OpenSSH as a file server alternative and reduces user friction * It is already incorporated into RedHat [2][3] and CentOS * It is on wishlist in Debian [4] * There are user requests for this function [5][6][7] * Patch v3 builds cleanly with 7.6p1 (Debian openssh-server 1:7.6p1-2) * All three authors agreed to put their patch into the public domain Best wishes, Elemér [1] https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1844 [2] https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1191055 [3] https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2015:1335 [4] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=841237 [5] https://superuser.com/questions/937003/setting-default-group-permissions-via-sftp [6] https://serverfault.com/questions/70876/how-to-put-desired-umask-with-sftp [7] https://superuser.com/questions/1066554/centos-sftp-ssh-how-always-create-files-with-rwx-rwx-r-x-and-always-owned-by- a _______________________________________________ openssh-unix-dev mailing list openssh-unix-dev@xxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.mindrot.org/mailman/listinfo/openssh-unix-dev
