There are lots of Linux distributions out there, and we can't keep up with them all. I, for one, had never even heard of Scientific Linux. It appears to be based on RHEL, so you *may* be able to install OpenConnect RPM packages built for corresponding version of RHEL or CentOS…. You should probably build from source*, or ask your distribution package maintainers to update their packages. Every distribution has its own policy around how long they support updates to packages, and it often differs between security and non-security updates. Dan * OpenConnect doesn't have too many dependencies compared to a lot of software out there, nor a complex or non-standard build process.
