When I connect to my VPN server with '--no-xmlpost -x foo.xml', I end up downloading the config file into foo.xml and it gives me the list of available servers in the rotation. The NetworkManager GUI tool will use this, and populate a drop-down list with them. When I let it use XML post mode, it doesn't download the config.
