Title: RE: [NNTPCACHE] combined virtual newsgroups from multiple servers?

Hi,

I would also really appreciate a solution to this problem. Although my setup is virtually the same, I get a different result.

news.myisp.com.               DEFAULT 24h 4d 4d 30m 10d 10d
news.clara.net.                         DEFAULT 24h 4d 4d 30m 10d 10d
%BeginGroups
*              news.myisp.com.
*              news.clara.net.

If this is my server config, the log shows:

Jun 11 16:26:55 server nntpcache-update[10974]: list.c:300: listmerge() ignored news.myisp.com ->active->alt.music.soundgarden: group not bound to this server

Looks like nntpcache doesn't read two lines beneath %BeginGroups as the groups are only bound to the last entry....

Hoping someone can help us out.

Kind regards,
Erwin de Beer

Subject: [NNTPCACHE] combined virtual newsgroups from multiple servers?

Hi.

Is it possible to combine newsgroups from multiple servers into a single large virtual newsgroup?  ie. if a group exists on more than one server, nntpcache should present the list of combined articles available on all servers.

I thought this would have been possible, but it only seems to be giving me the articles from one server or the other.  I'm using v3.0.1, and the following is my servers file:

news.myisp.com.               DEFAULT 24h 4d 4d 30m 10d 10d
user:password@news.clara.net. DEFAULT 24h 4d 4d 30m 10d 10d
%BeginGroups
*              news.myisp.com.
*              news.clara.net.

Here, everything comes from news.myisp.com.  I tried changing the clara line to:

alt.*          news.clara.net.

In this case, everything from alt.* comes from news.clara.net. only, and other groups come from news.myisp.com. only.

Is such a combined virtual groups feature available, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
