Compile problem on Alpha

Trying to compile nntpcache-1.0.7.1 on a 500mhz Alpha (EB164) running
RedHat Linux 5.0. I can compile successfully on an Intel-based Linux
installation but not on the Alpha. Results of 'make' and 'configure'
appended below. Any help or suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.
