I've just tried moving off INN to nntpcached. I've noticed a problem though. Because my upstream provider's news server is most likely very bogged down, outgoing connections take about 10 seconds before getting the usual prompt from innd. Once connected, its what I would think of as acceptable performance (although still a bit slow). Any ideas on how I can try to make things faster? Does nntpcached have to connect to the remote server(s) every time a new connection is made? The cache is only a day old now, so maybe a few more days will help. I've given nntpcached 3 gigs to play with, and only have about 300ish groups regularly read. Thanks for any help, Dan
