I have come across a problem where people using some news-readers will visit thousands of newsgroups by just doing a GROUP command an then going on to the next group. This is presumably how the news-reader find out the number of articles in the group. I find this creates massive directory trees in the nntp cache. What I would really like is an option for nntpcache to not create the directories when entered but just when it needs to write to them. This would seem reasonable behaviour and would get around the problem with the disk filling up with unused groups. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Toivo Pedaste Email: toivo@ucs.uwa.edu.au University Computing Services, Phone: +61 9 380 2605 University of Western Australia Fax: +61 9 380 1380
