Seems you where really lucky!! Tried your tip. Same as before. I can start nntpcached, but even 4h later, nothing happened. Connecting with netscape gives: A News (NNTP) error occurred: initial server rebuild \ in progress (0 groups complete), please try again later. Recompiled the whole thing. Same. Tried debian packages. Same. Additional: there is no log output. NOTHING! How can I turn some really simple maybe stupid debugging messages on like: xyz: started xyz: initializing socket on 192.168.x.x, port 1111 xyz: connecting server 192.168.y.y, port 1111 xyz: connection established xyz: get ... and so on?
