I have lately started getting the same response to many groups, but curiously not all the groups coming from that same server. The error is #411 This may have been a mistake, but I tried to solve the problem by rebuilding my cache files --- I deleted cache.* and ran nntpcache, only this time my load went to 4 (linux 2.1.95, 32MB) and the monitor page shows server status with all connections in excess of 6 hours! My intended use for nntpcache is to give the LAN machines access to outside news while avoiding problems with our dynamic IP: Machines can connect to the local address and thus the connection is not invalidated when the outside link is lost. I'm a little confused, though, on the meaning of "timeouts". I have my services listed as follows: greynet.net. DEFAULT 24h 2d 2d 4h 0 0 Does this mean my local server will consider the cache items suspect after that 'timeout' value and thus the very next request will initiate a connection, or does it mean that nntpcache will automatically initiate the connection to refresh the cache? Are these appropriate settings to imply "cache only the headers and active file, and proxy the rest"?
