list newsgroups

Hi,

 The news server that I use returns '503 No list of 
newsgroup descriptions available.' when issued the
command 'list newsgroups'. This leads to the message
'update task retiring' in syslog. Is there anyway to 
get nntpcache to finish the update with a server
that has this problem?
