FINDINGS OF NIH CLINICAL CENTER NURSING INITIATIVE PRESENTED AT PRE-CONFERENCE
WHAT:
NIH Clinical Center Nursing and Patient Care Services will host a pre-conference, Clinical Research Nursing (CRN) 2010: Nursing Practice at America's Research Hospital, and co-host the Second-Annual International Association of Clinical Research Nurses (IACRN) Conference. The events focus on the specialty of clinical research nursing. Members of the press are invited to attend both at no cost.
WHY:
In 2007 the Clinical Center launched CRN 2010, an initiative to document and formalize the practice of clinical research nursing. Clinical Center nursing leaders defined the domain of practice and narrowed their findings to five dimensions that represent the specialty.
At the IACRN conference, acting chief of the Clinical Center Bioethics Department Christine Grady, Ph.D., will present the conference keynote speech and Clare Hastings, Ph.D., NIH Clinical Center chief nursing officer, will deliver the Distinguished Clinical Research Nurse Lecture.

Pre-conference is Nov. 17, 2010, 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. in Masur Auditorium, NIH Clinical Center
IACRN conference is
-- Nov. 17, 2010, 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, Bethesda, Md.
-- Nov. 18, 2010, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the NIH Natcher Conference Center (Building 45)
-- Nov. 19, 2010,:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the NIH Natcher Conference Center (Building 45)
Grady will speak at 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 18. Hastings will speak at an awards dinner be held at the Bethesda Double Tree on November 18 between 6:30pm and 9:00 pm.
