News Advisory

CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOWS LEARN ABOUT OPTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES

WHAT:
More than 270 medical and dental students from 70 U.S. schools will be at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center next month for the seventh-annual Clinical Investigator Student Trainee Forum. The students, who represent the next generation of clinician-scientists, will have the opportunity to learn more about new medical research methods and technologies and to network with established clinical and translational researchers.

WHY:
The forum is a program of the NIH Clinical Center's Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education to encourage collaborations and professional relationships and to educate on the process of building a career in clinical research. Attendees will hear about the latest breakthroughs and current research from National Institutes of Health leaders. A panel of alumni from the same year-long research enrichment programs attending this forum will discuss their careers and perspectives on the pathways to success.

New this year, organizers will update attendees on the schedule and presentation content via the Twitter handle CCMedEd, using the tag #CIST. Interested parties who could not make it to the meeting can tweet questions for presenters marked with the same tag.

WHEN:
Nov. 4-6, 2009

WHERE:
Masur Auditorium
NIH Clinical Center
National Institutes of Health
Bethesda, Md.
