If you want to keep your identity a secret there are a WHOLE SLEW of things you can't do because they require public identification. It is NOT true that they can't contribute to the kernel because they "value" their privacy. They can not contribute because it is a PUBLIC act and LEGAL public act. And you can't do this, perhaps, anymore than you could run for office anonymous, or take an active roll in any political activity. And that is good thing.
