Software Suspend using Swap

Hi,
I'm working on a project which will enable hibernating multiple linux installations in a single swap device.
Can anyone please , provide the answers to the following questions ?

1. Is the hibernated image saved contiguously? [please refer to the related code]
2. at which point, during resuming from hibernation, the kernel re-enables the swaps?
3. is it possible to provide the kernel parameters to enable a part of a drive as a swap device?
4. On system resume , what flags are passed from the booted kernel to the resumed one, and how? [ details will be beneficial]

Regards,
Ashwin
