How the first printk work after start_kernel?

hi all,

i am doing MIPS 24KC CPU porting, i have a question: how the first
printk work after start_kernel() function, i dont know how to do serial
initial for ARM-MIPS? My serial device is not 8250 compatible. 

it is do serial initial in prom_putchar() and early_printk() to
implement the printk?
