Did you enable CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD and CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM in kernel
config? Its been ages since I last worked on uClinux.
IIRC you should see messages like :
RAMDISK: romfs filesystem found at block 0

where did you load the romfs? What is your kernel config?

I had CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM enabled, and I 've just tried to enable
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD but
it hasn't resolved the problem.
I have defined an area of memory right after the end of the BSS in
vmlinux.lds.S. During compilation, .romfs is
created at this memory location. (0x12000). During boot, -rom1fs-
appears at this address.
You can find my .config attached.
I've tried to set ROOT_DEV at 0x00100000 (major = 001; minor = 00000)
then the kernel output the following messages:

No filesystem could mount root, tried: romfs
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block(1,0)
*******
It appears that the kernel hasn't found romfs at this point.
What is the function or the procedure responsible for the search of the
magic number -rom1fs- ?
When does it do?
Have you got an idea?
