Hello Steven,

I guess one the sources you should reach is the official "Linux
netfilter Hacking HowTo" that you can find on the netfilter website:
http://www.netfilter.org/documentation/HOWTO//netfilter-hacking-HOWTO.html

It deals about filtering as well.

But be careful. As you can see, this paper seems really old
(2002/07/02) and perhaps the implementation has changed since
theses times... The 2.6 kernel wasn't borned.
