What are these utilities used for?

In my FC7 there exists these utilities:

eu-addr2line eu-elflint eu-nm eu-size eu-unstrip eu-ar eu-findtextrel eu-ranlib eu-strings eu-elfcmp eu-make-debug-archive eu-readelf eu-strip Seemed to be related to some ELF utilities. So what are these utilities used for - as compared with those normal ones like readelf etc? (man page returned nothing, and google returned not much - just imagine 31 entries returned by Google :-)) Essentially - what is the difference? Seemingly not much:

eu-size
text data bss dec hex filename
  86175 3124 0 89299 15cd3 a.out
size a.out
text data bss dec hex filename
 86175 3124 0 89299 15cd3 a.out

ls -al /usr/bin/eu-size
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 16552 Nov 12 2007 /usr/bin/eu-size

ls -al `which size`
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 26096 Jun 28 2007 /usr/bin/size

PS: Sorry if this is unrelated to kernel, but these utilities may be useful for kernel development? Or not?

Thanks.
