meaning of platform_driver_register

Hi,

 

I would like to ask what's menanig of platform driver model (Documentation/driver-model/platform).

I try to make a simple keyboard driver and I modify drivers/misc/cobalt_btns.c for my purpose.

There exist functions for platform handling. I try to make it without this and it's working also without.

 

Maybee silly question, but :

1, i'm newbie ;)

2, I need some example explanation for newbies :D.
