With full support for the devices and protocols you'll be using, there's
not much out there that fits this point.

That actually depends. A downloaded bootstrap program using PXE has access to basic networking functions like UNDI and if supported, even some security/integrity services (BIS) which could be hijacked to do something worthwhile.

Problem will be accessing other devices if you do not have the option of just entering username/password. But in any case I really suggest enhancing pxelinux (pxe syslinux variant) because it can load almost anything. Even chainload bigger images with the help of memdisk.
