In userspace, the answer is "ldconfig", but in kernel, frankly I don't
know the answer, so I suspect the answer is "no way".

The reason I said this is because - looking at Nvidia and VMWare -
they had similar problems, and when exact version is not available,
their automatic script will recompile the kernel modules given the
directory of the kernel header files (SYSSRC environment in NVidia).
