1) Can somebody help me understand what could be the use of disabling interrupts while mdelay()?
Speaking about it, IMHO it is used to make that we really busy loop for about 1 microsecond (or milisecond?) and not too long than 1 microsecond. The interrupts coming from another source could disturb this mdelay(), thus making it longer.
