Yes, it means that you have patched your kernel and that the patches
are not yet commited into git. I.e.: git status shows modified files.

Another possibility is that you use fakeroot to compile your kernel
(fakeroot make targz-pkg, for example), in that case kbuild detects a
different owner (i.e. root instead of andre) of certain files and
thinks the tree is dirty.
