vmlinux.lds.S guide

Hi all,

I'm working on a new architecture port of Linux, and I'm trying to understand the vmlinux.lds.S linker script...  script.

Is there any documentation or guide on this file somewhere?  I understand that "every architecture does its own thing", but shouldn't there be some base set of sections/symbols/layout that are common/required by everyone?
