*module* is not visible through insmod because it is built statically in the kernel.Which is what you did, right? if there is an entry in /proc/net for ipv6 it is up and running. Just in this case it is built in the kernel and is not a module. You use module when you want to load your compile kernel code dynamically into the running code.
