asking the definition of slowpath and fastpath..

Hello everyone...

Many times I read about slow path and fast path during some kernel development talks. What are they? My raw understanding is, slowpath is code path that is taken without holding any locks, while fast path is the opposite (in atomic style, during interrupt service routine and so on).

I really appreciate enlightenment about them...

regards,

Mulyadi
