They should work on any block device.

Hints:

- - "grep -r -i crypt Documentation/" and read about the use of
  cryptography in the kernel
- - www.google.com

BTW, another option is using eCryptfs, which is a stackable filesystem
on top of other filesystems. Again, read the fine documentation.
