Regarding SYSTEM V IPC Vs POSIX IPC

I have couple of questions regarding IPCs in Linux.

1.  Need of POSIX IPCs. 
2. What is the difference between SYSTEM V IPC and POSIX IPC ?
3. Where SYSEM V IPC is created i.e. in kernel space or user space ?
