anyone using U-Boot on a stock x86 PC?

although the u-boot bootloader is primarily for embedded systems,
i'm wondering if anyone's tried using it instead of GRUB on a regular
PC, not because of any advantages, but strictly as an experiment.

if you were planning on designing an embedded system and thought
about using u-boot, playing with it on a regular PC might be
educational, and i'm assuming you can always overwrite it with GRUB
when you're tired of it.
