Latest mm kernel git tree and applying a patch to it

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,
I had git cloned the latest mm tag (v2.6.19-rc5-mm1) by
git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/smurf/linux-trees.git
v2.6.19-rc5-mm1

Now according to http://lwn.net/Articles/208300/ there is a patch in
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.19-rc5/2.6.19-rc5-mm1/2.6.19-rc5-mm1.bz2
so I downloaded it , unzipped it and renamed it to 2.6.19-rc5-mm1.patch

Now I want to apply this patch but I am not sure how.
I saw that the patch "old" source tree is under linux-2.6.19-rc5
like thus:
--- linux-2.6.19-rc5/Documentation/00-INDEX	2006-11-07 21:14:03.000000000 -0800
+++ devel/Documentation/00-INDEX	2006-11-08 01:18:12.000000000 -0800
So I reanmed my root tree to linux-2.6.19-rc5 instead v2.6.19-rc5-mm1

Now how should I apply it ?
I tried cd to linux-2.6.19-rc5 and from there patch < 2.6.19-rc5-mm1.patch

But it gave errors.

What is the right way to apply this patch ?

Regards,
John
