thanks for your reply.
I think "vga=0x311" parameter is GRUB specific option.
vga= is _NOT_ a GRUB specific option
(case LILO, it not the same.)
You should run `lilo` after editing lilo.conf, did you?

you are right. vga is not a GRUB specific option.
that was my misunderstanding.
but what i want to do is, no GRUB, no LILO, the boot loader accepts boot parameter, but the video mode doesn't change to graphic mode.
it boots in text mode.

instead of GRUB or LILO, with own bootloader, how can i boot the linux in graphic mode?

any hints or ideas?
