What can and can't be done in kernel-mode

Hi,

I am looking for a list of what can and can't be done in kernel-mode, both in interrupt and user contexts (I'll settle for what can't be done). I am referring to things like sleeping, paging, etc. There is some information on the kernel hacking howto, but it's outdated and succinct.
Are there any other references?

Thanks,
Elad
