Well, if you *really* want to do that, then I guess you'd want to do
something along the lines of :

1) get hold of an old 386 PC.
2) Get hold of a very old version of a distribution like SLS or
similar one from that era - good luck finding those. Or if you can't
find an old enough distribution you'll probably have to try and find
sources from ~1993 for all userspace tools etc you need and somehow
setup an environment where you can get them build and transfered to
your 386 box...

The oldest kernel I ever used was something like
0.98patchlevel<something> which was on Slackware 1.02 or thereabout if
I remember correctly... I doubt you could get 0.01 to run on even
that...

In short: Give it up, that kernel is just too ancient. Learn from a
modern kernel instead.
