if you use the proper sysfs interfaces (and most subsystems do that for
you) then udev will automatically generate the right device nodes for
you in userspace.

Arjan ,  i think  kishore is working on 2.4.x kernel. Is sysfs ported to 2.4.x too?
If not then i think using sysfs interfaces is not possible. :-)
