Is PCI standard telling that all PCI cards should have DMA engine itself. Or it is optional.
 
If my PCI card doesn't support dma process itself, can i use external dma controller to take care of dma memory-to-memory transfer.

unfortunately the PCI standard is not freely available (although google
may find you a illegal copy of the pdf)
