ptp is usb digital still image protocol, which is mostly used in communication between PC and Digtal Camera.
ptp gadget driver will be akind like file storage driver under Linux usb\gadget directory. It will enable my embeded system look like a DC to PC :)

Yes, there are a couple of open source P2P software like amule ... http://www.amule.org/ and emule ... http://www.xmule.org/
if Peer 2 Peer is what u mean by PTP :).
