Basic question on arch/i386

Hi,

 

In the linux source code tree, I see some directories under

arch/i386/

 

like mach-es7000/ ,  mach-visws/ .

 

Does the "mach" indicate "machine" ? Do these represent directories for each machine which is based on i386 architecture ?
