block request injection from user-space

Hi all

I've searched for some time, but haven't found anything - is there a generic posibility to inject requests into (block) device's request queue from the user space? I know, there are some cdrom, scsi (sg_io?) ioctls, maybe others, but I haven't found any common methods independent from the device type. Ideally, it shouldn't even be an ioctl. Should work with scsi (all transports), [sp]ata, atapi, loopback, fd, sg, st (though character, still using block queues).

If there isn't such a thing, wouldn't it be desired? Maybe as a filesystem?

Thanks
Guennadi
