Having printk output to console as well as /var/log/messages

Hi all,

How do I get some of my printk messages to be directed to the console window as well as (or instead of) going to /var/log/messages?

I tried using the KERN_CRIT directive, as well as a few others, but nothing seems to work.

My /proc/sys/kernel/printk looks like this:

6       4       1       7
