Re: kernel 2.6.9 failure

I have seen similar problem with my x86_64 machine.
I figured out that, the kernel for these machines require
ACPI; once I re-compiled kernel with ACPI enabled,
it started working again.

 I don't know whether the above is applicable for your
machine.
