This is my knowledge, i might be wrong somewhere. you need to upgrade to newer version of module_init_tools. check on the net for the compatible version of module_init_tools for 2.6 kernel. you might find that the version number of tools required for 2.6 kernel is lower than the version number of tools required for 2.4 kernel, but the lower version tools are the latest ones and need to be used for 2.6 kernel.
