compile kernel to different machines

Hi! I want to compile a kernel to a different pc from
that i will finally use it.
 I was wondering if this is possible and what i must
take care of before doing the compilation...
 I think that both pcs must have the same glibc
version but i am not sure and i do not know how to to
find the glibc version.
