Subject: Unable to compile kernel 2.4.26 with SATA disk support
Hi,
I have a SATA disk with the intel piix chipset. In kernel 2.6 there is
a separate section for SATA disks, but kernel 2.4 does not have any
such section. How can I compile kernel 2.4 for the SATA disk support?
I tried compiling 2.4.26 with support for piix chipset in the list of
IDE drives but on booting I get kernel panic with the message
"cannot open root device".
Can anyone suggest the correct options to be used in the .config file.
Thanks in advance.
Shourya
