Using your distribution packaging system, ask for a copy of the
version you are using:

    *). apt-get source klogd (on Debian).
    *) rpm -qial | grep klogd (or something like that - OTTOMH as I
rarely use rpm these days).

You might also find the applets in busybox worth reading through -
