Do intel smp machines always have an 8259A alike external PIC?

I found function init_8259A was called whether machines are smp or not. But smp can function well because local APIC and io APIC replace old PICs, so I thinks there exist some codes which disable 8259A, but I cannot find them. What's wrong with me?

Thank in advance!
