Installing mod-init-tools question.

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I have a RedHat Enterprise 3.0 system. I have
installed 2.6 kernel, and able to load it up (with
some minor errors) without installing modules.

After reading through the README of mod-init-tools, it
seems like I can install modules in /sbin or
/usr/local/sbin. I am tempted to install in /sbin,
so all my apps from RedHat will keep working, but will
overwrite my old mod tools. However, installing in
/usr/local/sbin will protect my previous tools.

Can someone tell me if my understanding is correct,
and installing in which directory is a safer bet to
can reboot into my RedHat system.

Thank you,
Ahmed.
